In some respects, the best things in life are polarizing (Mets vs. Yankees, Stones vs. Beatles, Rock vs. Disco, Humans vs. Trump), and that is definitely the case with the debut Tears for Fears record. To me, it’s one of the greatest records of all-time, while a few members from my family couldn’t listen to more than 1 minute of the first song.
Here’s how I summarized this record in the Greatest Debut Albums book. Listen (if you wish) and enjoy!

Why This Album?
Who needs therapy when you have distance running and the first Tears for Fears record! I can’t tell you why I’ve listened to this entire record thousands of times, but it’s still in high rotation for me 48 years after its release.
